On a well-known website for dermatology from a famous university there I saw pictures of acne on the back and neck that was treated in the traditional way for acne but unsuccessfully. It was later noted that this acne was not truly acne but rather a reaction to a specific type fungi/yeast that lives on the oil produced by the body. Of particular areas this thrives is the upper back and chest, and the triangle area directly above the cleft of the buttocks. Also on the scalp, wherever it is present the person has what seems to be deep, painful itchy zits. The people who had this type of fungi were all successfully treated with Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is POWERFUL anti-fungal (belonging to the "azole" family). This shampoo is highly effective against this type of dandruff that may be untreatable with other types of dandruff shampoos. I bought this and the zits and bacne COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. The bad thing is, that I start to get acne almost immediately upon stopping its use. The good thing is, that this is the FIRST summer in years that I have been able to wear tank tops! Also, no more itchy bumps on my head and around my lower hairline. It also seemed to really make a difference with the acne I was getting on my face! I have been using it as a body wash for my back and upper chest as well as shampoo. This is how I got rid of my bacne and acne on my chest as well as the dandruff type symptoms on my head. I am thinking about using it as a face wash now too! BTW, you can get the 2% Ketoconozole shampoo from a dermatologist, but its usually not necessary. Try Nizoral first! Since it is anti-fungal, try using it for Tinea Versicolor, which is also a fungal based rash. (Results in patches of de-pigmented areas on the skin). Let the shampoo lather up and let it sit on your skin for 2 minutes before rinsing off. I can't stop using this stuff..I tried everything on my back, salycilic acid sprays, benzoil peroxide bars and creams. All I got from those were more zits or stained/bleached t-shirts. I am 34 years old, and I have no idea why I have these skin problems since I hit about age 30. I am attributing it to some sort of hormoneal imbalance. Ketoconazole also has anti-androgenic effects, and many body builders use it on their back and hair to prevent the thinning of hair and acne that results from their steroid abuse. It's also a touch harsh on the scalp. The fragrance they use to cover the medicinal smell is pleasant, but my scalp is still flaky so I will not repurchase. I would not go so far as to say that the fragrance is "wonderful Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: It left a coat of wax-like feeling on my scalp and there is no evidence of treating dandruff. The fresh feeling wouldn't last 24 hours. It makes me want to shampoo my hair after just half a day, even staying indoors. The worst part is that it makes my hair so dry and weak that I could snap my hair into half easily. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: This product is really great. I just don't know why I ever bothered using other shampoos for my sensitive scalp, as none of them ever helped. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: This product is effective in reducing and even eliminating dandruff. About four years ago, I was having dandruff problems and purchased Nizoral based on the suggestion of a friend. I used it according to the directions on the bottle and saw results in a few weeks. I was very happy with the results and found the price to be (while a bit high) worth it. The effectiveness of this product was reinforced to me about a year ago when I ran out, and was out of town a fair amount didn't have a chance to purchase more straight away. Within about four weeks, the dandruff was back (though not as severely) and going back to using this product cleared it up again. I highly recommend this shampoo. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: This product made my dandruff flare up and itching got worse. Since then I have used T-gel and that works a 100 times better. This product deserves 10 thumbs down. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: I have been suffering from telogen effluvium (temporary mass hair loss) with a dry, scaly scalp for the past 4 months. I tried Nizoral since Head & Shoulders just wasn't cutting it anymore, and after the first shampooing was amazed to find my scalp "normal" looking. This is a product that really stands up to its claims. Bonus: I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like it actually helps decrease my hair shedding. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: Shampoos before this never really worked for me; dandruff usually appeared as soon as 3 hours after using them. Itching usually followed a day or two after. Nizoral (thankfully) quickly put that to an abrupt HALT. The itching completely stopped, and the dandruff for me was never seen again to this day (currently using for 2 weeks)! Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: While this is an excellent product for dandruff and other scalp conditions, beware! I have my hair professionally dyed and Nizoral stripped the color right out. Surprisingly, the shampoo did not leave my hair in bad condition; it just ruined my expensive dye job. I still use Nizoral because it works so well, but just a couple of days before I have a scheduled appointment with my hair color specialist. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: The effectiveness of anti-dandruff shampoos seems to vary a lot between people. That said, this has been the best-working one I've found, and smells a *lot* better than the tar-based ones. Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: This product has a wonderful scent. I am currently using it on recommendation from a dermatologist who instructed me to cleanse the areas of my skin with sebhorreic dermatitis. It has been a lifesaver!
