On a well-known website for dermatology from a famous university there I saw pictures of acne on the back and neck that was treated in the traditional way for acne but unsuccessfully. It was later noted that this acne was not truly acne but rather a reaction to a specific type fungi/yeast that lives on the oil produced by the body. Of particular areas this thrives is the upper back and chest, and the triangle area directly above the cleft of the buttocks. Also on the scalp, wherever it is present the person has what seems to be deep, painful itchy zits. The people who had this type of fungi were all successfully treated with Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is POWERFUL anti-fungal (belonging to the "azole" family). This shampoo is highly effective against this type of dandruff that may be untreatable with other types of dandruff shampoos. I bought this and the zits and bacne COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. The bad thing is, that I start to get acne almost immediately upon stopping its use. The good thing is, that this is the FIRST summer in years that I have been able to wear tank tops! Also, no more itchy bumps on my head and around my lower hairline. It also seemed to really make a difference with the acne I was getting on my face! I have been using it as a body wash for my back and upper chest as well as shampoo. This is how I got rid of my bacne and acne on my chest as well as the dandruff type symptoms on my head. I am thinking about using it as a face wash now too! BTW, you can get the 2% Ketoconozole shampoo from a dermatologist, but its usually not necessary. Try Nizoral first! Since it is anti-fungal, try using it for Tinea Versicolor, which is also a fungal based rash. (Results in patches of de-pigmented areas on the skin). Let the shampoo lather up and let it sit on your skin for 2 minutes before rinsing off. I can't stop using this stuff..I tried everything on my back, salycilic acid sprays, benzoil peroxide bars and creams. All I got from those were more zits or stained/bleached t-shirts. I am 34 years old, and I have no idea why I have these skin problems since I hit about age 30. I am attributing it to some sort of hormoneal imbalance. Ketoconazole also has anti-androgenic effects, and many body builders use it on their back and hair to prevent the thinning of hair and acne that results from their steroid abuse. It's also a touch harsh on the scalp. The fragrance they use to cover the medicinal smell is pleasant, but my scalp is still flaky so I will not repurchase. Cons Best Uses Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: Like another reviewer, my primary care doctor recommended I use this product to help treat my acne rocasea! I know it sounds a bit strange, but somehow there might be a correlation between the dandruff and the breakouts. One thing is for sure, the dandruff is gone! I only use it as directed so it is not too harsh on my highlited hair. As far as the acne rocasea, I'm also on antibiotics and use salisylic acid product, so I'm not sure if it really has an effect on the skin condition.

Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: Moved to crazy dry Colorado from the humid mid-Atlantic region, and ended up breaking my arm snowboarding - the combo made me super dry and unable to take real showers (my husband washed my hair in the sink for three weeks - not ideal). I got terrible, itchy dandruff that wouldn't go away until I tried this shampoo. The flakes were very noticeable as I have nearly black, short hair. Was using another popular dandruff shampoo that stopped working completely. It has been just over a week since I started using this product daily, and the dandruff has almost completely cleared up - I can't even notice it! Give me another week and I'm sure I'll be completely flake free. Also, it is slightly scented, but in a good way. Not that gross chemical smell other dandruff shampoos often have at all. Yay!!

Cons Best Uses Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: Twice a week and this product seems to help me more than other active ingredients. Will buy this again for sure. No medicine smell, lathers very well, and seems to get rid of excess oil without drying the hair or scalp--at least in my case.

Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: left my hair soooooo silky soft unlike T-gel, selsun blue, head and shoulders, tea tree shampoo and dermarest.. This shampoo w/ a squirt of scalpicin every 3 days works perfectly. Enjoy your new sanity and freedom!

Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: Smells better than any other dandruff shampoo. Gentle, and quickly takes itching and flakes away. I limit use of this product to once a week, so that the medication in it will continue to be effective. After shopping around for the best price, Drugstore.comhas it on this product, which tends to be expensive. A little goes a long way! (Expense is the only reason I don't give it 5 stars!)

Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: I have just started using this and so far it's been working. I have very dry flaky scalp and when I use it it works for about 2 days, where my scalp is not itchy. The con is that it strips your hair of all its moisture. Make sure that you use some conditioner after. It also has a pleasant smell.

Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: I have dandruff and looked for years for a product that would control my dandruff but didn't smell awful. Everything I found before Nizoral either didn't work on the dandruff or smelled so bad that I wouldn't use it. This is the first product that I found (recommended for my Dad by his dermatologist) that worked great and didn't smell awful. My teenager uses it, too.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: I am allergic to most shampoos. Nizoral is the ONLY brand I've used that can get rid of dandruff and doesn't cause acne. Price is a little high, but it works for me so no complaint!
