On a well-known website for dermatology from a famous university there I saw pictures of acne on the back and neck that was treated in the traditional way for acne but unsuccessfully. It was later noted that this acne was not truly acne but rather a reaction to a specific type fungi/yeast that lives on the oil produced by the body. Of particular areas this thrives is the upper back and chest, and the triangle area directly above the cleft of the buttocks. Also on the scalp, wherever it is present the person has what seems to be deep, painful itchy zits. The people who had this type of fungi were all successfully treated with Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is POWERFUL anti-fungal (belonging to the "azole" family). This shampoo is highly effective against this type of dandruff that may be untreatable with other types of dandruff shampoos. I bought this and the zits and bacne COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. The bad thing is, that I start to get acne almost immediately upon stopping its use. The good thing is, that this is the FIRST summer in years that I have been able to wear tank tops! Also, no more itchy bumps on my head and around my lower hairline. It also seemed to really make a difference with the acne I was getting on my face! I have been using it as a body wash for my back and upper chest as well as shampoo. This is how I got rid of my bacne and acne on my chest as well as the dandruff type symptoms on my head. I am thinking about using it as a face wash now too! BTW, you can get the 2% Ketoconozole shampoo from a dermatologist, but its usually not necessary. Try Nizoral first! Since it is anti-fungal, try using it for Tinea Versicolor, which is also a fungal based rash. (Results in patches of de-pigmented areas on the skin). Let the shampoo lather up and let it sit on your skin for 2 minutes before rinsing off. I can't stop using this stuff..I tried everything on my back, salycilic acid sprays, benzoil peroxide bars and creams. All I got from those were more zits or stained/bleached t-shirts. I am 34 years old, and I have no idea why I have these skin problems since I hit about age 30. I am attributing it to some sort of hormoneal imbalance. Ketoconazole also has anti-androgenic effects, and many body builders use it on their back and hair to prevent the thinning of hair and acne that results from their steroid abuse. I tried so many different things from more expensive named shampoos to apple cider vinegar and olive oil. It took about a week to notice a difference, and after two weeks, the fakes are almost cmpletely gone. I will definitely be getting more of this!

I tried all kinds of shampoos, treatments products... nothing worked. I thought my hair was doomed for eternity.

The water here is extremely harsh with clorine/chemicals that wreck havoc on both my skin and my hair. I was mortified to have to deal with unsightly flakes on a daily basis. I thank the other reviewers who raved about this product - within 3 shampoos, all of my flakes were gone!!! Talk about a blessing! The price is small cost for the confidence I feel when taking off my cover/helmet. :) I'm a customer for life.

I tried so many others, including coal tar products which made a difference but nothing like this. After a couple uses the difference was obvious, and now my scalp is in great condition. I use the shampoo about once every other week now.

I read in a magazine that this lowers the testosterone level on your scalp, which in turn helps with hair loss. I found it to be true, because after the birth of my 3rd child, I lost almost all of my hair especially on the top of my head. Washing with this 3 times a week at the advice of my local dermatologist helped me tremendously. He recommended it for my hair loss problem. It was not a cure all, but it helped ALOT. Now I use it for itchy, scaly scalp once a week and it gets the job done. It has been a lifesaver for me!!!
Comments about Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 fl oz: Here's a different take... Nizoral was prescribed by my dermatologist for my son's ACNE! Evidently it solves the problem of certain bacteria on the skin in teenagers. I was skeptical - a dandruff product for breakouts? She assured me it was so - and she was right.
