Like other's said, he will drink juice, water, etc out of other cups but will only drink milk from this one. However, by his age, my older son had given up on milk all together so I am taking what I can get. He LOVES his milk. And I am banking on the fact that he wont be taking this sippy to college, so no sweat. Here is the news! You can get replacement spouts directly from gerber by calling 1-800-4-Gerber. Just ask the person who answers for Nuk learner cup replacement spouts. [$] I just ordered them tonight 10/10/08. VS Most Liked Negative Review great for transition but.... I have bought upwards of 10 cups to "keep transitioning" him to a cup including the born free, nuby, gerber graduates, etc. and he will drink juice and water out of them all day long...try & put his milk(which we now use only before nap & bedtime)in one and he just throws it down and would rather fuss than drink out of it-the problem with that is like said in other reviews the spouts are hard to replace. I had to resort to online(at a time when I REALLY needed a replacement)to purchase it [...] The one good thing is that I was able to half solve my problem of only having one spout since the other 2 had warped around the seal area (I reccomend only hand washing them as dishwasher cleaning seems to be the culperate also it discolors the rubber when it gets really hot...but it does return to normal coloring after awhile- the red one is the worst for this.)and leaked hideously by finding one of the NUK 10 oz bottles(more volume!!)and the spout fits!!! I am not sure how the reviewer's child pulled the spout out of the cup as it is "locked" into place when you screw the cap on and the cup ring presses against the rubber, unless they got a defective or ill fitting one. I do agree however, that it is very easy for my son to make it leak if he has the cup upside down and puts pressure on the spout..but if you have any of the "softer" spouts they ALL do that!! Overall I would reccomend this cup for transitioning from a bottle as it is the easiest one for them, but do not use it for too long- start going to the next softest & so on after they get the hang of drinking from a sippy or like me you might be "stuck" with it longer than you should be. Best Uses Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: Put in dishwasher first time, and let out after to dry and be on the safe side. Inside of nipple had black specks of mold. No Thanks! Pros

Best Uses Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: Loved this cup at first, as my 5 month old took to this immediately even though she wouldn't take any other bottle. She even held it all by herself at 5 months old! But the nipples don't hold up and as others have stated, replacements are not available. After awhile, the nipples would start leaking and seemed to attract mold even after a thorough washing. Don't recommend putting these in the dishwasher at all either as that will change the shape of the nipple and cause leaking. But it did serve its purpose for a few months and get me through that challenging breast to bottle transition. Pros

Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: This is the only cup that my daughter who was bottle broke at age 13 months will use. We have tried others and this is the only one she likes. You will have to call 1-800-4-Gerber for replacement "spouts". Pros

Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: The Replacement spouts are impossible to find. They are quite flimsy so they are easy to tear if your child ever bites on one. My daughter absolutely loves this cup but now we have four of them we cannot use because we cannot find the replacement spout. At the price they are a pop this item becomes quite expensive everytime you need to get a new one. As a couple posts have said you can order the replacements spouts by calling gerber, this is not the case. AS OF 1/13/09 THEY HAVE DISCONTINUED THIS PROGRAM. Out of stock online everywhere as well. Good luck locating these spouts once your child falls in love with this cup. Pros

Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: My son is finally wiened from breast feeding and I've tried every bottle and sippy cup I could find and the only thing literally he would except is this Nuk Learning cup. Which is very good to have him off breast feeding. But bad he rufuses anything else because right now we very much need more nipples very badly and can't afford to go buy all new cups because my son got very sick and the doctor told me I had to boil his nipples from the cups after every use. Well now the nipples are ruined and I can't find anyone who actually sells just the nipples. Please help me. I need it very badly. My son won't take anything else and I don't have breast milk anymore even if I wanted to give up and breast feed again which I don't. I need help very much so. Pros

Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: Using these as transition from bottle to sippy cup. Much easier for my grandson to hold and use. He passes the cup back and forth from hand to hand without dropping it. It works quite well; just be sure that the top is screwed on all the way to avoid drips. Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: I seldom write reviews but I have to write this one. This cup is useless. My 6 months baby can't get anything out from this cup. I tried it by myself and I couldn't get anything either! [...] Gerber changed the spout design and it's very hard for his 18 months baby to get anything out from this cup. I think those good reviews about this product were based on the old design. The new design is really really useless. Pros

Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: Love this cup: won't leak (unless child bangs it upside down on her tray, but just being shaken it's fine), good grips, sturdy construction. Just wish it came in other colors. Pros

Comments about NUK First Choice Learner Cup with Latex Spout, 6+ months, 1 ea: To give something 5 stars, the product has to be flawless, so i can't give this 5 stars, because of two things. One the nipple is latex(which wears easier and many babies are allergic, even if mine isn't). Second it is only a 5 ounce cup. Now, my 10 month old takes formula 3 times a day and all three times it is over 5 ounces. Not a big deal two of the times, because i can go and refill, but a big problem, right before bed as he gets 9 ounces and falls asleep after drinking it. Now, i've found the solution which is to buy the 10 ounce Nuk bottles and the sippy tops screw onto them fine, but that is extra money that i wish i didn't have to pay for. BUT this is the ONLY sippy cup i could get my son to take and i tried many. So, it is an awesome cup :) |
