The microflora growth concentrate selected for PB8® is inulin, a natural carbohydrate from chicory root (Cichorium intybus). Inulin is also found in a variety of fruits, vegetables, and grains. Inulin promotes the selective growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestine and is considered a "Prebiotic".

From 1999 to 2001 my immune system was compromised by a series of "broad spectrum antibiotics" unwittingly prescribed in a short time frame by several doctors for a variety of things. Inside of a year these "shotgun" antibiotics had destroyed most of the good bacteria in my body. I chased skin rashes in every sensitive skin area on my body (ears, neck, testicals, butt, arm pits) for 3 years (and 5 different dermatologists) and I finally found a dermatology 'pathologist' whose investigation of the meds administered prior to the skin problems - PLUS my wife's suggestions, revealed that the broad spectrum antibiotics were the culprit. The PB-8 PROBIOTICS turned me around. It took a three month regimen of 2 capsules a day. After 13 different prescriptions of cortizone from the 5 dermatologists - the PB-8 PROBIOTICS eliminated this nightmare. That was 10 years ago - and I now take 3 capsules a day as my life insurance to keep my body chemistry in balance at all times. Most people do not realize that over the decades the pharmaceutical industry has strengthened the antibiotics and they no longer target just the "bad" bacteria - they kill everything in their path. Thus the name "broad spectrum". Avoid them at all costs - but if you find it absolutely necessary to take an antibiotic take the probiotics during and after the antibiotics. You've got to replenish the good bacteria in your body. Easiest regimen ever - but you have to understand what devastating effect these new antibotics have on your immune system.

drugstore has a good price for this product while other places charge $19+. i decided to try a probiotic that doesn't need to be refrigerated, mostly to help with lactose intolerance. i've noticed improvement with lactose issues when eating yogurts with probiotics/acidophilus. i tried pb8 for 10 days and had bloating/gassy daily. i thought maybe i had to get used to it so i called the manufacturer and they said the bloaty/gas should subside after a few days, so i've decided this is the wrong product for me since i'm having discomfort well over a week later. the rep suggested that the chicory root in the blue bottle is causing it and that the green "vegan" bottle might not cause the bloat. i'm too scared to experiment.

I take one capsule daily at breakfast. I had suffered from constipation for most of my life. Since taking PB8 I am fairly regular - except during periods of high stress. It's a great feeling.

I have always used this brand. Since supplements are not regulated, you can never be sure that what it says is actually in it. This brand is a tested one, so you can be confident in it.

My child takes this along with Plant Enzymes to controll her acid reflux instead of taking her prescription meds from the Dr. Comes without a mile long list of side-effects like the prescriptions do. And has been completely successful in maintaining her Dr. identified Acid Reflux.
