I am an intermediate runner; I run 15-20 miles a week. I used to suffer from cramping in my calves almost every time I would run. I would do all the other things right - eat my carbs and protein, avoid caffeine and alcohol, stretch, etc. I used to buy low-calorie electrolyte drinks to try to ward off the cramping. It was fairly effective, but costly and wasteful with the amount of plastic (even if it was being recycled). Then I was introduced to Nuun.
I use one tab of the Nuun in my camelbak water bottle, drinking at least 2 a day and sometimes more for a longer run. I use 1 tab for every 20 oz, which I think is a little more dilute than suggested, but it still tastes great. I find that the Nuun tabs are very tasty and the variety packs make it so one taste doesn't get old. I like they they are slightly carbonated. Most of all, I have been running cramp-free for some time, I've shaved 30 seconds off of my mile, and I feel great!
I think my legs are feeling better these days because Nuun is affordable and convenient, so I am able to drink more electrolyte drink to stay hydrated. And, Nuun is zero-calorie. I feel like Nuun is virtually guilt-free: no calories, cheaper than electrolyte drinks at the store (I did the math), and it's essentially zero-waste. I am a big fan and I will continue to purchase Nuun.
