Nystatin 500000unit is an antifungal agent used to treat infections of the intestinal tract. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor and pharmacist of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using Nystatin 500000unit provided by your doctor. STORE NYSTATIN 500000UNIT at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue taking Nystatin 500000unit for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF NYSTATIN 500000UNIT, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. PRACTICE GOOD ORAL HYGIENE, including proper care of dentures, while you are taking Nystatin 500000unit. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS DRUG IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Nystatin 500000unit, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Nystatin 500000unit include nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to Nystatin 500000unit is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue.
