Mosquitoes transmit diseases such as Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus and other diseases. When they bite an animal or bird infected with a disease, they go to lay eggs and come back to bite again. It is this second bite that transmits diseases. The OakStump Mosquito Trap attracts, catches and kills mosquitoes when they try to lay eggs, thus preventing that second "fatal" bite.

This "locator" biochemical draws those mosquitoes responsible for transmitting diseases like Encephalitis and West Nile Virus. I highly recommend these traps. Use old rainwater or standing water from around your yard for best results. I only use half the pheremone pill. Keep some of the water each time you empty it, and use standing water, and you won't have to replace the pill for at least a few empties. It is extremely disgusting to empty, however, and is not for insect phobes. Will get a bad smell if full and not emptied regularly.

This product really works. Just make sure you follow the directions to the letter. I can't stand chemical mosquito control, especially with children or pets around. This is an effective alternative.

This thing really works! I did not want to use mosquito punks around my pets, so this was the perfect solution (you still have to keep it away from pets because they might knock it over). After several weeks, there was a whole bunch of fat mosquitoes inside!

I live in mosquito heaven near a swamp in Hawaii. After a bad start (first twelve days), I discovered four important things about the OakStump trap before catching tons of mosquitoes. 1. You're best to put the trap where there's little or no breeze, in the shade. 2. Use the real swamp or rain catchments water, not the purified or chemicalized drinking water. 3. Don't make the mistake of putting all the pheromone in the water inside the trap. A wee bit on the black cross tube is good enough. 4. You need to wait almost three weeks before the trap starts to function well. My traps are filled with mosquitoes. * Sadly, there are still BILLIONS of hungry mosquitoes still hanging around the swamp that would rather bite first before laying their eggs.

This is the best trap, it caught a whole bunch of mosquitoes, and it was cheap. I think the reason the other people had difficulty was that they used tap water; I used pond water and it started working within a day. I could even see the egg rafts that the females were laying, and I could see them flying around inside the jar trying to get out. All that and I noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of mosquitoes in my area. I recommend this product for everyone.
Add 1 quart (4 cups) warm water and mix in packet of swamp vegetation. Open Mosquito Egg Pheromone packet and place lure in the center of the plastic tube. Do not touch lure with bare hands. Use gloves or tweezers. Place trap on ground away from pets and children where it cannot get knocked over. Leave trap undisturbed. Check once or twice a week to ensure adequate water remains in the trap. Use all season long, starting as soon as daytime temperatures exceed 50 degrees. Traps placed early in the year will produce lower summer mosquito populations. Use at least 2 to 4 traps per average yard, and 4 to 16 traps per acre, depending on the closeness of swampy areas, mosquito intensity and temperatures. Replace Mosquito Egg Pheromone and vegetation every 4 to 6 weeks. Rinse traps, but do not wash traps with soap as accumulated attractants will be washed away.
