Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking probenecid. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including kidney problems, intestinal problems (such as colitis), seizures, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension.
Follow the directions for using Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension provided by your doctor. SHAKE WELL before taking a dose. Use a measuring device marked for medicine dosing. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure this dose. Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Do not take any medicines containing magnesium or aluminum (such as antacids, vitamins/minerals, and quinapril), or iron within 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension as they may decrease the amount of medicine absorbed by your body. However, iron-fortified infant formula may be given at any time with Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension. STORE OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C), in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Discard any unused medicine after 10 days. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue using Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
IF YOU HAVE HAD A SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION to a cephalosporin antibiotic (such as Ceclor, Keflex, Ceftin, Duricef) or a penicillin antibiotic (such as amoxicillin, ampicillin), contact your doctor or pharmacist BEFORE TAKING OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION. A severe reaction includes a severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness. If you have a question about whether you are allergic to Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension or if a certain medicine is a cephalosporin, contact your doctor or pharmacist. IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing or tightness of chest; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor immediately. Do not take any more of Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension unless your doctor tells you to do so. IF MODERATE TO SEVERE DIARRHEA OCCURS during or after treatment with Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not treat it with non-prescription (over-the-counter) medicines. OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION MAY COLOR THE STOOLS a reddish color if you are taking any products that contain iron. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION IN CHILDREN under 2 years old because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine, especially diarrhea and rash (primarily diaper rash). FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES, Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension may affect your blood sugar. It may also cause false test results with some urine glucose tests. Check with your doctor before you adjust the dose of your diabetes medicine or change your diet.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and headache. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience vaginal irritation or discharge. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience a fever, sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, yellowing of skin or eyes, stomach pain, mucous or blood in your stools, or seizures. If an allergic reaction to Omnicef 125mg/5ml Suspension occurs, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; itching; dizziness; swelling of hands, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing; or hoarseness. DO NOT USE OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION for other health conditions. KEEP OMNICEF 125mg/5ml SUSPENSION out of the reach of children.
