This is a great simple to use meter. I love it. I have one in every color. The only 2 things I hate about it are the lancet device and the case. I find the easiest to use and least painless lancet device is the MultiClix by accu-check (totally worth the [$]). And because I use a different lancet device, it doesn't fit into the case well, which makes me dislike the case. The one touch meters are extremely accurate, (I have personally tested my meters against lab draws, and they perfectly matched), avilable in many different types to suit your needs, and colors. The mini is very affordable if you are on a budget. One last down side to the meter is that it only holds 150 test results, which is about 2 weeks worth when testing several times a day. An easy fix is getting the computer software and downloading the meter every few days. You also get the averages with the software.

The unit looks sleek, but in actuality is no smaller than the regular ultra touch 2 device (just thin and longer rather than rounded), and the zippered kit is really about the exact same size.
Also, the unit has major problems with the software. According to One Touch tech support, the software was written before this unit was manufactured, and does not work natively. There is a new driver you can download from their site, but this only works about 20% of the time with the unit (only after tech support worked on it with me for an hour), and when it does not detect your device, it takes several minutes to either cancel or wait for it to say it could not be detected.
If you do not already have a monitor and do not plan on using the software, the unit is fine. Otherwise, bypass it.

Comments about OneTouch UltraMini Glucose Monitoring System, Purple, 1 ea:

Having used the OneTouch Ultra Mini for years, and somehow misplacing mine, I figured I was safe buying a new Ultra Mini and was thrilled when I saw it in purple. No where in the description does it say that the lancets are different than the old Ultra Mini's though! If you look closely at the picture, it does say "Delica" but who knew that meant the old lancets wouldn't work in the new Ultra Mini's?? I now have a box of lancets that don't work, a new test kit and only 10 lancets until payday. Not very nice to quietly change a major component of the product and not boldy announcce it in the description One Touch and Drugstore.com! Otherwise, the kit is fine, I like the purple, the testing works fairly accurate and comfortable as it always did.

Comments about OneTouch UltraMini Glucose Monitoring System, Purple, 1 ea:

I have no idea how well this product works because, some of us, being new to glucose monitors, don't know that THE STRIPS DON'T COME WITH THE KIT!! So I have brand new monitor...and not even one strip to test it out with. They could have put in big letters that that vital accessory must be purchased as well and wasn't with the pack. Like, when you're purchasing, have pop-up "Need strips? Order here!" or something...oh well.

I have had my original meter for 7 years now, I wanted to have a new one for back up and travel. This meter is perfect for every day use and travel. I do still use my old lancet system since the new one is very flimsy.

Comments about OneTouch UltraMini Glucose Monitoring System, Purple, 1 ea:

I got this meter after my old Freestyle meter was discontinued. I chose it initially as it promised to be relatively painless and require only a tiny amount of blood. My old meter advertised both of these features as well, and like this meter, it let you take blood from your forearms and palms (I would have kept it, as I never had any problems with it). However, after following all the instructions, 5 test strips and lancets later I still have yet to get a reading on the UltraMini. I now have numerous tiny, itchy holes in my fingers and palms where the ineffective lancing device failed to get a decent sample. Not only that, but after turning the lancing device up to 5(!), I was still unable to get a sample large enough to fill the test strip, yet by this point it hurt quite a bit, and I have never had this problem before, and I don't plan on turning it all the way up to 7 just to get a sample from my finger. I am really unimpressed by this device, and I plan on returning it.

Comments about OneTouch UltraMini Glucose Monitoring System, Purple, 1 ea:

The unit itself is simple and easy to use. What disappointed me is that the software available is NOT compatible with Vista 64 bit (it is compatible with 32bit, however). Had I known this before I bought it I would have bought a different product as being able to download and graph my readings is very important to me. I would recommend this as long as the person understands the limitations with software availability.

When they were making the attachment to take blood tests in the arm, you could wash the dishes and use a computer, but I did not get that attachment with my order. Even if your blood tests results were a little higher in the arm, you still had a ballpark number and enough to carry on a normal life

You need to know this "system" does not come with: 1) any test strips; 2) control solution; 3) cap for alternate testing on hand or forearm.

The system does come with 10 lancets, but I can't even try the monitor out until I order the test strips. You would think they would at least put in 10, since they give you 10 lancets....

I have changed diet drastically as I am pre-diabetes, and all the family members that have diabetes are at least 100 lbs overweight, and have terrible diets.

This is a great blood glucose monitor in my opinion, however if I known the software would not work on my Apple IMac I would have tried to have found a monitor that had software that supported the macintosh.
