I actually bought it as a replacement for another electric Oral B brush that was nearly four times the cost a number of years ago. I use rechargeable AA NiMH batteries and it easily lasts a few months on one charge, depending on brushing frequency and length of course. I will actually be buying my wife one of these since the battery operated one she picked out has not worked very well for her.
