Why is Vitamin D Important? According to the National Institute of Health (NIH):
Vitamin D is essential for optimal calcium absorption.
Without vitamin D, bones can be become thin and brittle.
It can be difficult to obtain enough vitamin D from natural food sources and sunlight.
Who Needs Extra Vitamin D? According to the NIH, individuals at increased risk of vitamin D deficiency are:
Adults (50 years and over)
African Americans and others with darker skin
Those with limited exposure to the sun
Those consistently wearing sunscreen SPF 8 or greater
Osteoporosis... Regular exercise and a healthy diet with enough calcium helps teen, middle-aged and older women and men maintain good bone health. While Caucasian and Asian women are at greatest risk, all middle-aged women, those with a family history of the disease, and older men and women are at risk for developing osteoporosis.
Adequate calcium intake is important, but daily intakes above 2000mg are not likely to provide any additional benefits.
These calciums suppluments are wonderful. My bones were kinda aching since I have osteopinia and I have noticed such a difference since taking os cal. They came highly recommended from my doc and I am glad he suggested them. I have had no negative side effects either. I have been taken them for 4 years and my bones feel so much stronger, my docter has said I have actually gained some bone mass to. Highly recommend them!

Worthless Product
This was recommended by our GP for building bone density. We have used NOW brand Calcium and vitamin D with good success for years. Switching to this product brought back the low calcium leg cramps in bed. Obviously this product is not absorbable as are many other calcium products.

I take this daily in combination with OS-Cal Ultra. It doesn't upset my stomach at all. I feel stronger and healthier since I started using this as a daily supplement.

My wife's doctor recommended she start taking a calcium supplement. My wife doesn't drink milk and consumes other dairy products only intermittently. This relatively large, but easy to swallow tablet with a combination of vitamin D and calcium seems a good dietary supplement for for her.
