Most vegetarian sources of Omega-3 don't contain (or contain very little) of EPA and DHA. They contain primarily ALA. EPA, DHA, and ALA are types of fatty acids that you need in your body for good health (see Omega_3 in Wikipedia) The body has a limited ability to create DHA and EPA from ALA, but it is better to get it from your diet. If you are vegan or vegetarian or just don't like fish, especially the fatty fish (salmon, sardines, mackerel, etc), then this is a way to get your Omega-3s. I tried the V-Pure pills last year and they were horrible. They had a very strong fish smell with a rancid oil smell and then I would burp them up most of the day. These don't give me that problem. I don't know yet how effective they are since I've only been using them for a couple of weeks. We'll see.

This gives a good suply of DHA without using animal products. Another brand I had tried called itself Algal DHA, but when I read the label, the capsules were made from PORK! I don't take many supplements, but I consider this to be a great addition to my diet. Drugstore.com gives me a good price on it. It doesn't give smelly burps, either!

I take two tablets with meals and my cholesterol drops 33 points to an acceptable range. This kept me from taking cholesterol med's. Thanks doc for telling me to up the dosage. My only complaint is that they don't make tablets with a larger dosage so I don't have to take so many.

The thing I like best about this product is that I don't have to worry about which fish or fishing location the Omega 3 comes from since this is plant based.

I tried several types of omega-three capsules & would quit taking them after 2-3 days. Fish oil gives me horrible burping problems. My husband & I both are taking the Ovega 3 & have had no problems what so ever!

When I tried to take fish oil products I had a slight allergic reaction... sore throat and stuffy nose. With this product there is none. No fishy smell or burps either.
