I use this product to better understand the electrical usage/expense of the increasing number of appliances and gadgets I have. This product works as described, but for the price should include a backlit LCD readout. The product will be used against walls in dim areas, and the panel is difficult to read without a flashlight.

It did exactly what I wanted it to do. And it converts the electrical usage into a cost per day/week/month for you based on the rate you pay!! It was great to compare different items in my house to see how much electricity they were actually using.

The only problem I had is that the LED screen is hard to read without adequate light. As you have to plug it into the outlet, oftentimes it is behind the fridge/freezer/TV and hard to read. I had to use a flashlight to read the screen while it was plugged in.

Testing the appliances in and around the house was a priority to figure out how efficient each was. Some of the devices are going on 20 + years old. In order to effectively and efficiently replace older working appliances in a manner that would provide cost savings I purchased the P3 International KILL A WATT EZ. I was just required to enter my electric rate which could be found on any of the monthly bills from my power company. Then plug the Kill a Watt in to the wall and plug the appliance I wanted to test into the Kill A Watt EZ. Immediately I tested a number of appliances from refrigerators to heaters to dehumidifiers. The device told me what the appliance cost to run per hour / day / week / year. I varied the monitoring of each device based on how long each appliance is run. For the refrigerator I tracked for 24 hours for example - so I would obtain good baseline data. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend the Kill A Watt EZ to anyone who is looking to monitor electrical usage of products. Note: the Kill A Watt EZ is a standard 3 prong device so you are able to monitor electrical products which are grounded.

This device is an excellent and inexpensive way to determine power usage for various electrical devices in your home or business. Use the data to determine potential cost savings of power management changes to office computers or other devices. For the home, you'll know just how much to withold from your kids allowance for leaving things turned on. Honestly its a great educational tool.

Pretty nice except my unit always reads .20 amp even with no loadotherwize kinda like the p4400 Still needs a backlight that comes on when a button is pressed.Great price when I bought [...]All the other functions work as described and I love the fact it keeps memory>

After disassembling and cleaning contact under menu button, the unit worked great. Have learned to unplug several devices using power when off.

I was pleasantly surprised that my 50" Plasma wasn't a bigger energy hog. As I work my way around the house, I suspect ther will be surprises, like those small transformers that can really add up. This unit is doing exactly what I hoped it would do.
