Avoid contact with hair or dyed fabrics, including carpet and clothing which may be bleached by this product.
Skin irritation and dryness is more likely to occur if you use another typical acne medication at the same time. If irritation occurs, only use one topical acne medication at a time.
Skin irritation may occur, characterized by redness, burning, itching, peeling, or possibly swelling. Irritation may be reduced by using the product less frequently or in a lower concentration.

Irritation becomes severe.

I have combination skin, and was looking for an acne solution that wouldn't dry me out too much, so I chose Panoxyl 4%. Well, this did dry me out a little, but not excessively, so in that respect I am satisfied. However, ever since I started using this wash I seem to be getting MORE acne! I would consider my acne on the mild side to start with, so this is really a bummer. Would not recommend.
I have had acne-prone skin forever and have tried it all!!!! I have never done a review before, but I am so pleased with the products I have found with the help of all the product reviews, I needed to give mine :) I use this morning and night followed by Boots toner and moisturizers. The PanOxyl cleanser alone is drying, so moisturize! But great product clearing up my skin :)
This product is a lifesaver! My face was breaking out, and I was really getting scared. After being a MaxClarity user for a few years, I decided to switch to this stuff, since Steifel Laboratories are great. THIS PRODUCT WILL AMAZE YOU! My skin looks perfect. I don't have to wear makeup anymore!!!
I've been battling acne for 10 years now (I'm 34), and this is one of the only products that's made a radical difference in my skin, along with Retin-a and Aqua Glycolic toner. I'm not currently using Retin-a, but a week ago my skin was looking so awful I was considering it again. I was feeling very low; I had recently tried the Olay pro-x skin brush and it resulted in a disaster for my skin--little pimples EVERYWHERE in places I never get them, and a lumpy bumpy inflamed forehead. I found the PanOxyl 4 wash at my local pharmacy and thought--why not? Within days my skin had turned around, big inflamed spots--gone--and even the tiny pimples were disappearing. I am delighted with how smooth my skin looks...my forehead has been bumpy with lots of under-the-skin bumps for years. My cheeks are drier, more sensitive, and less breakout-prone, so I try to avoid getting too much of this cleanser on them. My husband has been literally chasing me around the house, saying I don't know what you're doing, but it's driving me crazy!
I love this face wash. It works fantastically well and is surprisingly gentle, just don't leave it on for more than a minute or two without rinsing off. It is exactly like the previously available prescription 4% Creamy Wash, which was my fave, and which they largely stopped making, probably because it's now available OTC. The price just simply can't be beat. The product by prescription was over $100.
Apply acne wash and gently massage area for 1-2 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with 1 application daily, then gradually increase to 2 or 3 times daily if needed or as directed by doctor.
If going outside, use a sunscreen. If irritation or sensitivity develops, discontinue use of both products and consult a doctor.
