I got this shampoo and conditioner with a coupon so that I could try it free. I've always heard great things about Pantene, so I was very excited to give this a try. However, whenever I use the shampoo and conditioner my hair smells terrible. It smells worse than the time I got a perm. I know that other reviews say it smells fruity, but on my hair the smell doesn't resemble fruit at all.

I love how this is described as being gentle enough for colored hair. They're high. No way can you use this on colored hair because it is so harsh and full of detergents. Pantene has the MOST and highest amount of detergents than any other company in their shampoos! Their shampoos are extremely harsh on hair...you can use Dawn for dishes and you'd get a gentler cleansing!
I don't use anything Pantene...destroyed my hair.

I really like this Flat to Volume formula. I've tried other Pantene formulas and they all left my fine hair limp with no body, and my hair felt like it had a build-up after only a few uses (daily washing).

F2V does not do that. It gets my hair and scalp squeaky clean. I do use a conditioner but only on my hair's ends because my scalp tends to be oily.

To me it smells like apples - very fresh and not overly sweet or fake-perfumey.

While my hair did not retain volume after a full day like they show in the TV commercial, no shampoo alone would do that to *my* hair: I'd need hot rollers or serious blow drying and lots and lots of gel or hair spray!

But I do like the way my hair feels: not limp or like it has a coating to drag it down.

I do hope Pantene continues to offer this formula!

Essentially this is a clarifying shampoo with very strong detergents that strip the hair of ANY oil. That is WHY THEY MARKET THIS AS A PRO-VOLUME SHAMPOO- it cleans anything that would be weighing hair down. It doesnt actually ADD anything. For that you would probably need a semi-creamy shampoo with wheat proteins and thickeners in it...But this here shampoo would be great for someone who really has buildup. otherwise it will inevitabley weaken hair by taking protective layers of it down the drain. At least that what it feels like it is doing. And it definitely takes the luster out. Squeaky clean, but dull.

I was looking forward to trying this, as the new formulation promised to add volume to my fine hair. Doing a little reading up on it, the way it proposes to add volume is by really deeply cleansing the hair and removing residue from other shampoos/conditioners/products.

I'm pretty sure it did that, I definitely can't argue with the cleanliness of my strands. However, even using the conditioner afterwards, my hair felt dry and had a certain amount of frizz by day's end. Also - surely when they are in the labs, they could do something about the Pantene scent. I checked 'smells bad' above - but it doesnt' truly 'smell bad' - it just has a very distinct Pantene scent.

I will say that my hair did have more volume to begin with, so I cannot argue with the effectiveness, but I didn't care for the dryness or frizz.

This did nothing for my wavy to slightly curly very fine hair. It actually dried it out and made it flatter. It seems like when I use these new Pantene products, and I've tried 5 new ones, it takes my hair forever to dry. It's like they leave some kind of strange film on your hair and it is not getting any air, so it's not drying properly. I miss the old Pantene.

It did creat some volume, but it didn't last through the day.

After being really impressed with the Pantene Fine Hairstyle Root Lifter Spray Gel, I was looking forward to trying the shampoo. I used it for maybe a week and started to notice that my hair looked dry and frizzed (which is not typical for me). I switched back to a smoothing shampoo (not Pantene) and my hair looks a hundred times better. I definitely blame this shampoo. Even though I have fine hair, this volumizing formula is too drying. I may use it a couple times a month as a clarifying shampoo, but that's it and I won't be buying it again. My hair wasn't flat, but it also wasn't any more volumized than with my other shampoo. I wouldn't recommend this at all. Even though it's inexpensive, it's still a waste of money.

didn't quite get the volume that the shampoo advertised but smells great. it also rid my hair of residue that my other shampoo was leaving, my hair feels sooo clean.

I was very disappointed considering the brand name and cost of this shampoo. Not only didn't it add any volume but it was very very drying.
