Chemical Name: ERYTHROMYCIN (eh-rith-roe-MYE-sin) and SULFISOXAZOLE (sul-fi-SOX-a-zole)

Common uses for Pediazole
Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension is a macrolide antibiotic and a sulfonamide combination used to treat infections.

Before using Pediazole
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE PEDIAZOLE 200-600mg/5ml SUSPENSION if you are also taking astemizole, cisapride, pimozide, terfenadine, or ergot alkaloids. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants, buspirone, carbamazepine, colchicine, cyclosporine, digoxin, disopyramide, methotrexate, methylprednisolone, midazolam, QT-prolonging agents (medicine that may change your heart rhythm, such as amiodarone, lithium, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants, certain quinolone antibiotics, sotalol, bepridil), rifampin, tacrolimus, theophylline, vinca alkaloids, or medicine for diabetes. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension.

Directions for Pediazole
Follow the directions for using Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension provided by your doctor. SHAKE WELL before taking a dose. IF PEDIAZOLE 200-600mg/5ml SUSPENSION UPSETS YOUR STOMACH, take it with food. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUID while you are taking Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension. Store Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue taking Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension for the full course of treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF PEDIAZOLE 200-600mg/5ml SUSPENSION, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Cautions for Pediazole
If your symptoms do not improve within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. PEDIAZOLE 200-600mg/5ml SUSPENSION MAY CAUSE increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun or sunlamps until you know how you react to Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension. Use a sunscreen if you must be outside for a prolonged period. DO NOT TAKE SELDANE (terfenadine) OR HISMANAL (astemizole) while taking Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension. Caution should be used in infants since they may be more sensitive to the effects of this drug. Though very unlikely to happen, a stomach problem called IHPS (infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis) has been noted. Contact your child's doctor immediately if the child has persistent vomiting or increased irritability. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension during pregnancy. PEDIAZOLE 200-600mg/5ml SUSPENSION IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension.

Possible side effects of Pediazole
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include stomach cramping, stomach discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Rarely, Pediazole 200-600mg/5ml Suspension can cause serious, even fatal, side effects such as a severe peeling skin rash known as Stevens- Johnson syndrome, blood disorders (e.g., agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia), or liver damage. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience skin rash or blisters, unusual fatigue, persistent sore throat or fever, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, or abdominal pain. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience vomiting, itching, vaginal irritation or discharge. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you take too much Pediazole
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, and headache.
