My dog's bark is rather high-pitched (she is a King Charles spaniel) and the device does not seem to "hear" her bark most of the time. Manual depression of the ultrasonic button works well - the sound is clearly unpleasant for her - but this does not happen automatically. I would not recommend this device unless maybe it works well for dogs with a deep "woof" bark.
