 | Are there any interactions between Fosamax and other therapies?
|
| Fosamax, the brand name for alendronate, is a nonhormonal drug that is prescribed to prevent and treat osteoporosis (thin or weak bones) in postmenopausal women. Other drugs, foods, and drinks can all interfere with the absorption of Fosamax and reduce its effectiveness. If you are taking other drugs in combination with Fosamax, consult your physician or pharmacist. For maximum absorption of Fosamax, take it on an empty stomach with six to eight ounces of water and do not eat or drink anything except plain water for at least 30 minutes.References: Micromedex Healthcare Series.
