How do I choose a SAM-e product?

How do I choose a SAM-e product?

answer for 'How do I choose a SAM-e product?'Your body makes SAM-e from an amino acid called methionine, which is commonly found in food. Cells in the body use SAM-e to make cartilage and repair cell damage. SAM-e, as a dietary supplement, is marketed for its ability to promote "joint health" and "emotional well being." The active ingredient in SAM-e is S-adenosylmethionine.

Choose an enteric-coated SAM-e tablet. The absorption of regular SAM-e tablets into the body is low because stomach acid destroys the active ingredient. Enteric coating may prevent stomach acid from destroying SAM-e, resulting in better absorption. You should also select a product that’s made by a reputable company. Several reliable enteric-coated products include Nature Made SAM-e or >GNC SAM-e.
