What can I take for aches, pains, and fever?

What can I take for aches, pains, and fever?

answer for 'What can I take for aches, pains, and fever?'Several over-the-counter medications can relieve aches, pain, and fever. A fever helps the body fight off infections. But they're sometimes uncomfortable and can cause complications. The drugs acetaminophen (brand name Tylenol), >aspirin (Bayer), >ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), >ketoprofen (Orudis KT), and >naproxen (Aleve) all relieve pain and fever.

Acetaminophen is generally well tolerated. Ketoprofen, ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin, also called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), may cause upset stomach, so try to take them with food. You shouldn't take NSAIDs if you have certain medical conditions like stomach ulcers. Be sure to read the product labeling carefully. Children and teenagers should avoid aspirin due to the possibility of developing Reye’s syndrome, a rare condition that can be fatal.

Sometimes, multi-symptom cold and cough products also include ingredients for pain and fever. Read the label carefully to find out whether or not a pain reliever is already included. Talk to your doctor if you are worried about drug interactions.
