 | How long will it take for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off?
|
| After you receive your last injection of Depo-Provera, it takes anywhere from four to 18 months, with an average of 10 months, for your body to rid itself of the drug. Side effects such as weight gain, mood changes, breast tenderness, and irregular menstrual bleeding may continue during this time. Depo-Provera doesn't permanently change your ability to become pregnant. It is a reversible long-term birth control method. Most women can become pregnant after stopping within one year, but it will delay your ability to conceive until it's fully cleared by the body. Sources: Contraceptive Technology. Ardent Media, 1998.
