 | What is grape seed extract?
|
| Grape seed extract is a supplement made from the ground-up seeds and skins of common red grapes. Some people claim that it has antioxidant properties that protects against cancer, slows the aging process, improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and controls blood sugar. It's also thought to strengthen blood vessels, prevent cavities, and improve visual function. There are some small studies to suggest grape seed extract may improve circulation, reduce eye stress, and improve night vision. However, more studies are needed to establish its benefits. The dose of grape seed extract may vary depending on the condition you are treating. The recommended doses are 75 to 300mg daily for three weeks, then 50 to 80mg daily. For poor circulation and visual function, doses of 150 to 300mg have been used. Sources: Foster, S., V.E. Tyler.
