 | Are there any interactions with OxyContin?
|
| OxyContin (generic name sustained release oxycodone) is a long-acting prescription medication for relieving moderate to severe pain. It's a member of the opioid family of drugs that also includes morphine and codeine. Two common side effects with OxyContin—drowsiness and dizziness—may worsen if you take it with other drugs that cause drowsiness such as antidepressants, antihistamines, sleeping pills, and other pain medicines. Check with your doctor before taking any of these types of medicines with OxyContin. Alcohol can also interact with OxyContin by increasing drowsiness and dizziness, so you should avoid alcoholic drinks if you're taking OxyContin. Sources: Drug Facts and Comparisons.
