| Penlac (generic name ciclopirox) is a new medication that's prescribed to treat fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails by killing the fungus responsible for these infections. It's a lacquer that you apply directly to the nails.The most common side effects of Penlac are redness of the skin surrounding the nail, rash, and nail disorders. Studies show that about 9 percent of people who use Penlac experience side effects. If you experience any side effects while using Penlac, notify your doctor.
