 | What is BuSpar?
|
| BuSpar (generic name buspirone hydrochloride) is a prescription drug most commonly used to relieve anxiety. Scientists believe BuSpar works by reducing levels of a chemical called serotonin. It is important that you take BuSpar exactly as your doctor prescribes it. Patients generally show improvement within one to two weeks. Avoid alcohol and use caution when taking other medicines that can cause drowsiness. If you miss a dose, do not take two doses together unless advised by your healthcare provider. You can take BuSpar with or without food. Sources: BuSpar Product Information, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, 2006. Drug Facts and Comparisons. Facts & Comparisons, 2006 Micromedex® Healthcare Series.
