What are the side effects of BuSpar?

BuSpar (generic name buspirone hydrochloride) is a prescription drug most commonly used to relieve anxiety. Scientists believe BuSpar works by reducing levels of a chemical in the brain called serotonin.

Those most commonly reported side effects are mild and include dizziness, nausea, headache, nervousness, excitement, and lightheadedness. Less common side effects include abnormal movement, such as restlessness or uncontrolled movements of face or neck muscles. If you experience any of these less common side effects, contact your doctor.

Compared with most other anti-anxiety drugs, BuSpar is less likely to cause physical dependence.
