 | What are the side effects of Welchol?

| WelChol (generic name colesevelam) is a medicine that lowers blood cholesterol levels. It belongs to a class of drugs called bile acid resins. Other bile acid resins include cholestyramine (brand name >Questran) and colestipol (>Colestid).WelChol appears to be better tolerated than other bile acid resins. Its most common side effects are constipation and stomach upset. Welchol may not be appropriate for people with difficulty swallowing or certain major gastrointestinal disorders. Sources:
