 | How do I know if I'm entitled to a manufacturer refund for lorazepam or clorazepate?
|
| A class action lawsuit against several manufacturers of generic lorazepam and clorazepate have been filed by the Attorneys General of the fifty States, the District of Columbia and the Federal Trade Commission. The lawsuit alleges that these companies reduced the availability and distribution of lorazepam and >clorazepate, ultimately causing consumers to be overcharged for these medicines. If you purchased the generic drugs lorazepam and or clorazepate any time from January 1,1998 to December 31, 1999 and are a resident of the Untied States you may be entitled to make a claim for a refund for your out of pocket expenses. You cannot claim a refund it you had a fixed co-pay, because your insurer/provider most likely paid the cost of the higher prices. The lawsuit only covers the generic forms of the drugs, lorazepam and clorazepate. You are not eligible to claim refunds if you purchased the brand name drugs, Ativan® or Tranxene®. To find out whether you are entitled to a refund, or to file your claim, call the toll free settlement hotline at 1-800-899-5806, for TDD/TTY 1-877-564-7096 or go to www.agsettlement.com. All completed forms must be mailed in by September 29, 2001 to the Settlement Administrator. This answer prepared 7/17/01. Sources: Lorazepam and Clorazepate Settlement Brochure.
