Chemical Name: MEASLES (MEE-zills), MUMPS, and RUBELLA (rue-BELL-a) VACCINE
This medicine is a vaccine used to prevent measles, mumps, and rubella.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking corticosteroids. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
This medicine is usually administered as an injection at your doctor's office or a clinic. STORE THIS MEDICINE in the refrigerator. Protect from light. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine.
IF YOU HAVE A TUBERCULIN (TB) SKIN TEST WITHIN 8 MONTHS OF RECEIVING THIS MEDICINE, tell your doctor you have received this vaccine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. IN ADULT FEMALES, joint pain may occur 2 to 4 weeks after an injection. This usually lasts only a short time. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are pregnant. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOU COULD BE PREGNANT contact your doctor immediately. AFTER RECEIVING THIS MEDICINE, do not become pregnant for at least 3 months without checking with your doctor.
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include burning or stinging at the injection site, feeling lousy, sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache, fever, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. In women, sore or painful joints may occur 2 to 4 weeks after receiving the vaccination, but this usually goes away in a short time. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience hives; pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site; swelling of glands in the jaw; or swelling of the testicles, in males. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur.
