Chemical Name: ALPROSTADIL (al-PROS-ta-dil)

Common uses
This medicine is a prostaglandin (PGE-1) used to treat impotence. It may also be used to diagnose impotence.

Before using
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions or allergies. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IN CHILDREN under 18 years old is not recommended. Please talk with your doctor about risks and benefits before giving this medicine to your child.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine comes with a patient information leaflet. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if it is cloudy, colored, or contains particles. Use this medicine immediately after mixing. This medicine is injected into the spongy tissue on the right or left side of the penis using the syringe provided. Alternate the side of the penis and the site of the injection with each use. ANY LEFTOVER MEDICINE and the syringe and needle used with this medicine should be disposed of as instructed by your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. STORE THIS MEDICINE as directed by the manufacturer.

Cautions
BE SURE TO CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE DOSING PROCEDURE described to you by your doctor. Do not use more of this medicine or use it more often than recommended. TELL YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU EXPERIENCE painful erections or erections that last for more than 6 hours. IF YOU DO NOT EXPERIENCE any improvement after using this medicine, check with your doctor. DO NOT CHANGE THE DOSE after establishing your effective dose without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include headache; dizziness; penile pain; or bruising or bleeding at the injection site. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience redness, lumps, swelling, tenderness, or curving of the erect penis. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include a prolonged erection lasting over 4 hours.

KEEP THIS MEDICINE, as well as syringes and needles, out of the reach of children. Do not reuse needles or syringes. Dispose of properly after use.
