Chemical Name: GANIRELIX (ga-ni-REL-ix)

Common uses
This medicine is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist used to treat infertility.

Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including allergies or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.

Directions
Follow the directions for taking this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine is usually given as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. IF YOU ARE USING THIS MEDICINE AT HOME, carefully follow the injection procedures taught to you by your health care provider. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. IF THIS MEDICINE CONTAINS PARTICLES or is discolored, or if the vial is cracked or damaged in any way, do not use it. USE THE PROPER TECHNIQUE taught to you by your doctor. Inject deep under the skin, NOT into muscle. STORE THIS MEDICINE at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are taking 1 dose daily, take the missed dose if you remember the same day. If you do not remember until the next day, contact your doctor.

Cautions
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE IF you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine, gonadotropin-releasing hormone, or any gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog. Tell your doctor before you use this medicine if you are allergic to rubber latex. LAB TESTS, including white blood cell counts or hormone levels, may be performed to monitor your progress. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments. OVARIAN HYPERSTIMULATION SYNDROME (OHSS) is a possibly life-threatening side effect that may be caused by use of this medicine. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience stomach pain, bloating, or swelling; nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; decreased urination or dark urine; shortness of breath; or sudden weight gain. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant. Pregnancy must be ruled out before beginning therapy with this medicine. If you suspect that you could be pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. It is not known if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking this medicine.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include headache or mild vaginal bleeding. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience dark urine; decreased urination; diarrhea; nausea; shortness of breath; stomach pain, bloating, or swelling; sudden weight gain; or vomiting. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

KEEP THIS PRODUCT, as well as syringes and needles, out of reach of children and away from pets. Do not reuse needles, syringes, or other materials. Dispose of properly after use. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain local regulations for proper disposal.
