Tablets
Chemical Name: CHLORPHENIRAMINE (klor-fen-EER-a-meen), PHENYLEPHRINE (fen-ill-EF-rin), and METHSCOPOLAMINE (meth-skoe-POL-a-meen)

Common uses
This medicine is an antihistamine, decongestant, and anticholinergic combination used to relieve congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes due to colds, flu, or hay fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are taking or have taken furazolidone, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (such as linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, isocarboxazid, or tranylcypromine), medicine for high blood pressure, or medicine for depression within the past 14 days. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking droxidopa, ergot medicines (such as ergotamine), solid forms of potassium chloride (such as capsules or tablets), or sodium oxybate. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking alpha blockers (such as prazosin), anticholinergics (such as atropine), barbiturates (such as phenobarbital), beta-blockers (such as metoprolol), bromocriptine, entacapone, tolcapone, digoxin, diuretics (such as hydrochlorothiazide), doxapram, guanadrel, guanethidine, local anesthetics (such as lidocaine), maprotiline, methyldopa, mecamylamine, metoclopramide, reserpine, tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline), or urinary alkalinizers (such as sodium bicarbonate, calcium citrate, or acetazolamide). Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems (such as congestive heart failure; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; or heart valve problems), blood vessel blockage, blood clots, coronary artery disease, kidney or liver problems, mood or mental problems, nerve problems, brain damage or injury, Down syndrome, stomach or bowel problems (including opening [stoma] in the bowel), diarrhea, hernia, esophagus problems, dry mouth, chronic breathing problems (such as asthma or emphysema), overactive thyroid, enlarged prostate, bladder problems (such as difficulty urinating), glaucoma, trouble sleeping, sleep apnea, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are having an asthma attack. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have severe high blood pressure; severe coronary artery disease; severe stomach or bowel problems (such as blockage, loss of muscle tone, or ulcers); difficulty swallowing; ulcerative colitis; severe esophagus problems (such as inflammation from reflux disease, or blockage); bladder blockage; narrow-angle glaucoma; myasthenia gravis; or uncontrolled bleeding. Use of this medicine in children under age 6 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor or on the package. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE TAKEN WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.

Cautions
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE of this medicine. Doing so will not improve your condition faster and may increase your risk for side effects. THIS MEDICINE MAY INTERFERE WITH CERTAIN LAB TEST RESULTS, including skin allergy tests. Be sure your doctors and laboratory personnel know that you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS, BLURRED VISION, OR DIZZINESS. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. AVOID ALCOHOL while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants (such as sleep aids or tranquilizers). Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DRY MOUTH. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute. THIS MEDICINE MAY REDUCE SWEATING. DO NOT BECOME OVERHEATED in hot weather, during exercise, or during other activities since risk of heat stroke may be increased while taking this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE YOUR EYES to become more sensitive to sunlight. Wearing sunglasses may help. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes other cough-and-cold medicine or allergy medicine. DO NOT TAKE DIET OR APPETITE CONTROL MEDICINES while you are taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE SLEEPING, ask your pharmacist or doctor about the best time of day to take this medicine. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN using this medicine in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine, especially confusion, drowsiness, dizziness and problems urinating. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN using this medicine in children, especially children with brain damage, because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine (such as excitability and overheating in hot environments). FOR WOMEN: It is unknown if this medicine may cause harm to the human fetus. DO NOT BECOME PREGNANT while taking this medicine. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include nervousness; dizziness; drowsiness; trouble sleeping; blurred vision; dry mouth, nose, or throat; nausea; constipation; stomach upset or pain; or headache. If they continue or are bothersome check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience vomiting, flushing, mental or mood changes (such as irritability or excitement), difficulty urinating, involuntary trembling, loss of appetite, restlessness, or tingling of the hands or feet. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest tightness, difficulty swallowing, confusion, hallucinations, fast or irregular heartbeat, unusual bruising or bleeding, or unusual tiredness or weakness. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include confusion; hallucinations; hot dry skin; very high body temperature; irregular heartbeat; seizures; large and unchanging pupils; severe or persistent dizziness, headache, or vomiting; severe drowsiness; deep sleep or loss of consciousness; and difficulty swallowing or breathing.

Additional information
If your symptoms do not improve within 5 days or if you develop a high fever, rash, or persistent headache, check with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets.
