Box
Chemical Name: LANSOPRAZOLE (lan-SOE-pra-zole) and NAPROXEN (na-PROX-en)

Common uses
This product contains two different medicines, lansoprazole and naproxen. This combination is used to treat the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis in patients who have had a stomach ulcer condition in the past. Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicine used to treat many conditions associated with inflammation. Use of naproxen has been associated with an increased risk for stomach ulcers. Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces. Together, these medicines may provide the benefits of naproxen while protecting the stomach from excess acid production. This may reduce the risk of new ulcers associated with the use of naproxen. This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before using
WARNING: THIS MEDICINE CONTAINS A NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUG (NSAID). IT MAY CAUSE AN INCREASED RISK OF SERIOUS AND SOMETIMES FATAL HEART AND BLOOD VESSEL PROBLEMS (such as heart attack, stroke). The risk may be greater if you already have heart problems or if you take this medicine for a long time. Do not use this medicine right before or after bypass heart surgery. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE AN INCREASED RISK OF SERIOUS AND SOMETIMES FATAL STOMACH ULCERS AND BLEEDING. Elderly patients may be at greater risk. This may occur without warning signs. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking.
