Chemical Name: DICYCLOMINE (dye-SYE-kloe-meen)
Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg is an anticholinergic agent used to treat symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking amantadine, antiarrhythmics (such as quinidine), antihistamines (such as diphenhydramine), digoxin, phenothiazines (such as chlorpromazine), benzodiazepines (such as diazepam), metoclopramide, monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors (such as phenelzine), narcotic pain medicine (such as meperidine), nitrates (such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide), nitrites (such as sodium nitrite), sympathomimetics (such as pseudoephedrine), or tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including chronic inflammation or ulcers of the bowel, diarrhea, hiatal hernia, enlarged prostrate, urinary blockage or retention, kidney or liver problems, nerve problems, overactive thyroid, heart problems (such as heart failure, history of rapid or irregular heartbeat), high blood pressure, being at risk for glaucoma, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg IS NOT RECOMMMENDED if you have blockage of the esophagus, stomach, intestine, or urinary tract; heart problems due to severe bleeding; glaucoma; inflammation of the esophagus due to acid reflux; loss of strength in the intestinal muscles; chronic inflammation and ulceration of the bowels; or myasthenia gravis. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg.
Follow the directions for using Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg provided by your doctor. STORE DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg at room temperature, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. If your symptoms do not improve within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg MAY CAUSE drowsiness or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg. Using Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR before drinking alcohol while using Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg. DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants (such as sleep aids or tranquilizers). Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT BECOME OVERHEATED in hot weather or during exercise or other activities since heat stroke may occur while you are taking Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg. DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg MAY CAUSE your eyes to become sensitive to sunlight. Wearing sunglasses may help. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg during pregnancy. DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Dicyclomine Hcl 20mg.
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment include dry mouth, drowsiness, blurred vision, dizziness, decreased sweating, constipation, nausea, loss of taste, headache, difficulty sleeping, or nervousness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience unusual weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty urinating, difficulty focusing your eyes, rash, or rapid heart rate. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusually dry mouth; excessive thirst; nausea; vomiting; difficulty breathing; blurred vision; dilated pupils; flushed, hot, dry skin; muscle weakness; unusual dizziness or drowsiness; restlessness; disorientation; and seizures.
DO NOT SHARE DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg for other health conditions. KEEP DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg out of the reach of children. IF USING DICYCLOMINE HCL 20mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
