Chemical Name: PRENATAL VITAMINS (pree-NATE-al VYE-ta-mins), MINERALS, IRON (EYE-urn), FOLIC ACID (FOE-lik AS-id), AND OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS
This medicine is a vitamin, mineral, and omega-3 fatty acid combination used to treat or prevent a lack of vitamins or minerals before, during, and after pregnancy, and while breast-feeding. It may be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking medicine for cancer (such as fluorouracil), medicines for seizure (such as phenytoin), medicines for high blood pressure (such as methyldopa), medicines for rheumatoid arthritis (such as penicillamine), medicines for thyroid problems (such as levothyroxine), certain quinolone antibiotics ( such as ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin), certain cephalosporin antibiotics (such as cefazolin or cefotetan), certain tetracycline antibiotics (such as doxycycline), medicines used to help with transplant operations (such as mycophenolate), or medicines for osteoporosis (such as alendronate). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions or allergies. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of megaloblastic or pernicious anemia, bleeding problems (such as hemophilia), or if you have high levels of iron in your blood. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE WITH A FULL GLASS OF WATER. If this medicine causes an upset stomach, take it with a snack or meal. Try to avoid taking this medicine with dairy products. Dairy products may interfere with the absorption of the iron found in this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product, including fish or fish oils. DO NOT EXCEED the recommended dose of this medicine without talking with your doctor. DO NOT TAKE large doses of vitamins (megadoses or megavitamin therapy) while taking this medicine unless directed by your doctor. ACCIDENTAL OVERDOSE of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six. In case of accidental overdose, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking this medicine. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes other vitamin or mineral products or antacids.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include darkening of stools, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, fishy taste, or stomach gas. If they continue or are bothersome check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR if you experience stomach pain or cramping, or black tarry stools. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience unusual bruising or bleeding. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
