Chemical Name: PRENATAL VITAMINS (pree-NATE-al VYE-ta-mins) and MINERALS
This medicine is a dietary supplement used to treat or prevent a lack of vitamins or minerals before, during, and after pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including anemias (such as pernicious or megaloblastic anemia), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of excess iron in the blood. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE WITH A FULL GLASS OF water. Check with your pharmacist to see if your brand should be taken with food or on an empty stomach. If this medicine causes an upset stomach, take it with a snack or meal. Try to avoid taking this medicine with dairy products. Dairy products may interfere with the absorption of the iron found in this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
ACCIDENTAL OVERDOSE of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6 years of age. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes vitamins or mineral supplements.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. WHILE YOU ARE TAKING THIS MEDICINE, you may notice darkening of your stools. This is normal. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience stomach pain or cramping, or black tarry stools. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Symptoms of overdose may include black, tarry stools; chest pain; lack of feeling alert; loss of balance; seizure; severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach pain; shortness of breath; sluggishness; trouble breathing; unusual tiredness or weakness; unusually pale skin; and weak pulse.
DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
