Chemical Name: UREA (ue-REE-a), LACTIC (LAK-tik) ACID, and SALICYLIC (sal-i-SIL-ik) ACID
This medicine is a keratolytic used for treating dry, rough, scaly skin caused by certain conditions (eg, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, cracked skin, calluses). It may also be used for certain other skin or nail conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including if the affected area is broken or severely irritated; allergies; pregnancy; or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Wash your hands immediately before and after using this medicine unless your hands are part of the treated area. APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT of this medicine to the affected skin as directed by your doctor. Rub the medicine in until it is completely absorbed. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), away from heat and light. Do not freeze. If you miss a dose of this medicine and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE IF you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine. THIS MEDICINE IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Do not get it in your eyes, nose, mouth, or on your lips. IF YOU GET THIS MEDICINE IN YOUR EYES, rinse them right away with cool water. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE HARM IF IT IS SWALLOWED. If you may have taken it by mouth, contact your poison control center or emergency room right away. DO NOT APPLY to broken or severely irritated skin. DO NOT USE more than the recommended dose or use for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. DO NOT USE this medicine for other skin conditions at a later time. If you use topical products too often, your condition may become worse. Talk with your doctor before you use any other medicines or cleansers on your skin. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE YOU TO BECOME SUNBURNED MORE EASILY. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to this medicine. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE CAN CAUSE HARM to the fetus. IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using this medicine while you are pregnant. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS FOUND in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you use this medicine, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include mild, temporary burning, itching, irritation, or stinging at the application site. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience redness; or severe or persistent burning or irritation. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue.
