Chemical Name: POLYMYXIN (pol-i-MIX-in) B and BACITRACIN (bass-i-TRAY-sin)

Common uses
This medicine is an antibiotic combination used to treat eye infections.

Before using
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Directions
This medicine may be used around the eye or in the eye. TO USE THIS MEDICINE IN THE EYE: first, wash your hands. Pull the lower eyelid away from your eye to form a pouch. Squeeze a thin strip of ointment into the pouch. After using the medicine, gently close your eyes and keep them closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. Wipe the applicator tip with a clean, dry tissue. TO PREVENT GERMS FROM ENTERING THE MEDICINE, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface including the eye. Keep the container tightly closed. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, away from heat and light. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue using this medicine for the full course of treatment. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions
IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE blurred vision when you first put it in your eye. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you can see clearly. It is usually recommended that you DO NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES while using this medicine. Check with your doctor before wearing them. Sterilize contact lenses according to manufacturer's directions. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include burning or stinging. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience itching or swelling of eyelid; redness; or worsening of pain. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
