Chemical Name: VITAMIN D (VYE-ta-min D)
This medicine is a vitamin used to treat or prevent low levels of vitamin D. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of nutritional or electrolyte deficiencies. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS TAKING A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE for 1 or more days, there is no cause for concern. If your doctor recommended that you take it, try to remember your dose every day.
DO NOT TAKE large doses of vitamins (megadoses or megavitamin therapy) while taking this medicine unless directed to by your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. This includes antacids containing magnesium.
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience weakness, headache, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, metallic taste in your mouth, dry mouth, constipation, stomach cramps, diarrhea, muscle or bone pain, dizziness, excessive thirst, or excessive urination. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur.
