Chemical Name: DIGESTIVE ENZYMES
This medicine is a pancreatic enzyme combination used to improve food digestion in patients who do not produce enough enzymes on their own as a result of disease, surgery, or other conditions. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including cystic fibrosis, Crohn disease, a history of intestinal blockage or other intestinal problems, allergies (especially to pork proteins), pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED during episodes of sudden or increased severe inflammation of your pancreas. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not crush or chew before swallowing. If you have difficulty swallowing the capsule, the contents may be sprinkled on soft foods that do not require chewing such as applesauce or gelatin. After mixing, eat the food and swallow immediately. Follow the dose with a glass of water or juice. TAKE THIS MEDICINE with a meal or snack. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS while taking this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it, are allergic to pork protein, or to any other ingredient in this product. DO NOT CHANGE BRANDS OF THIS MEDICINE without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking this medicine. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, stomach pain, constipation, or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience severe cramping or stomach pain. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
