Chemical Name: CLINDAMYCIN (KLIN-da-MYE-sin) and BENZOYL PEROXIDE (BEN-zoe-il per-OX-ide)
This medicine is an antibiotic and a drying agent combination used to treat acne.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking including any other skin or acne products. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you are also using products which contain erythromycin. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking a nondepolarizing muscle relaxant (eg, pancuronium) or succinylcholine. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including stomach or bowel problems, allergies (especially to certain antibiotics such as lincomycin), pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of certain severe stomach or bowel disorders (e.g., enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or antibiotic-associated colitis) or Crohn disease. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. An additional patient information leaflet is available with this medicine. Ask you doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this information. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE, thoroughly wash, rinse with warm water, and gently dry your skin. Apply and rub in a thin film of medicine to the affected skin as directed. Wash hands after use. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Discard any unused medicine after 2 months. Use this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. TO CLEAR UP YOUR INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue using this medicine for the full course of treatment. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it, to lincomycin, or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. ONCE YOU BEGIN USING THIS MEDICINE, it may take several weeks before you begin to see improvement. If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER ACNE MEDICINES OR SPECIAL CLEANSERS on your skin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. AVOID GETTING THIS MEDICINE in your eyes or on the inside of your nose or mouth. If you get this medicine in any of these areas, rinse them right away with cool water. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY BLEACH your hair or colored fabric. Avoid getting this medicine in your hair or on your clothes. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to this medicine. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period. IF SEVERE DIARRHEA, STOMACH PAIN OR CRAMPING, OR BLOODY STOOLS develop during treatment with or within several months after treatment with this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist right away. Do not treat it without first checking with your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while using this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include mild burning, dryness, or peeling of the skin. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience severe burning, dryness, or peeling of the skin; diarrhea; bloody stools; or severe stomach cramps. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, unusual itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
