Chemical Name: SODIUM (SOE-dee-um) FLUORIDE and POTASSIUM (poe-TASS-ee-um) NITRATE
This medicine is a topical fluoride toothpaste used to prevent tooth decay. It is also be used to help reduce painful sensitivity of the teeth to touch; sweets; or hot, cold, or acidic substances.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including a history of kidney problems, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Use of this medicine in children under age 12 is not recommended without checking with the child's doctor or dentist. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your dentist. Use this medicine in place of your regular toothpaste unless directed otherwise by your dentist. PLACE AT LEAST a 1 inch strip onto a soft bristle toothbrush and brush thoroughly for at least 1 minute, then rinse the mouth out well. DO NOT SWALLOW THIS MEDICINE or the rinse water. Spit out this medicine after brushing. Be sure to brush all sensitive areas of the teeth. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light. USE THIS MEDICINE REGULARLY to receive the most benefit from it. Using this medicine at the same times each day will help you to remember. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE HARM if large quantities are swallowed. DO NOT SWALLOW. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use this medicine for longer than 4 weeks without checking with your doctor. If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast-milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor, dentist, or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
NO COMMON SIDE EFFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED with the proper use of this medicine. If you notice any unusual effects, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include burning in the mouth, sore tongue, diarrhea, nausea, excess saliva, stomach pain or cramping, vomiting, and vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
