Chemical Name: BENZOYL PEROXIDE (BEN-zoe-ill per-OX-ide) and CLEANSING LOTION

Common uses
This medicine is a keratolytic agent with antibacterial actions used to treat acne.

Before using
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are using other skin products or acne medicines. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including an open wound or damaged skin at the application site, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about using this medicine.

Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TO USE THE WASH: SHAKE WELL before each use. Wet the affected area and apply the wash. Gently rub to form a lather. Rinse with water and pat dry. Wash your hands after using this medicine. TO USE THE LOTION: SHAKE WELL before each use. Apply a generous amount to the skin and gently rub in. Remove excess lotion with a soft cloth or tissue. If you are using the lotion with water, apply it to the skin and then moisten with warm water. Gently rub to form a lather. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Wash your hands after using this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL WEEKS for this medicine to work. Do not stop using this medicine without checking with your doctor. If your acne does not improve or it becomes worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE more often or for longer than prescribed by your doctor. Contact your doctor if excessive irritation develops. THIS MEDICINE MAY BLEACH HAIR and colored fabric. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER MEDICINES, special cleansers, aftershave, or cosmetics on your skin without checking with your doctor. AVOID GETTING THIS MEDICINE in your eyes, on the inside of your nose or mouth, or on your lips. If you get this medicine in your eyes, immediately wash them out with cool tap water. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include minor irritation, dryness, peeling, feeling of warmth, or stinging. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience excessive irritation, itching, burning, peeling, tenderness, or redness of your skin; or extreme dryness. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
