Chemical Name: CALCIUM (KAL-see-um) ACETATE
Phoslo 667mg is a phosphate binder used to reduce the amount of phosphate in the blood of patients with kidney failure.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Phoslo 667mg. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are also taking digitalis (eg, digoxin) or medicine for seizures or irregular heartbeat. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including low phosphate levels, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF PHOSLO 667mg IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have high blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia). Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Phoslo 667mg.
Follow the directions for using Phoslo 667mg provided by your doctor. TAKE PHOSLO 667mg with meals. DO NOT TAKE PHOSLO 667mg AT THE SAME TIME as a bisphosphonate (eg, alendronate), eltrombopag, estramustine, a quinolone (eg, ciprofloxacin), a tetracycline (eg, doxycycline), or a thyroid hormone (eg, levothyroxine). Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how to separate these medicines from your dose of Phoslo 667mg. STORE PHOSLO 667mg at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. KEEP PHOSLO 667mg out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF PHOSLO 667mg, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
DO NOT TAKE PHOSLO 667mg if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Laboratory and/or medical tests, including blood calcium and phosphate levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are taking Phoslo 667mg. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DIET PROGRAM prescribed by your health care provider. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. DO NOT TAKE ANY OTHER MEDICINES CONTAINING CALCIUM (eg, calcium supplements, certain antacids, multivitamins containing calcium) while you are taking Phoslo 667mg. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Phoslo 667mg during pregnancy. PHOSLO 667mg IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Phoslo 667mg, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
A SIDE EFFECT that may occur while taking Phoslo 667mg is nausea. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience confusion; constipation; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; increased thirst or urination; loss of appetite; loss of consciousness; mental or mood changes; muscle weakness; severe or persistent nausea; sluggishness; unusual tiredness; or vomiting. An allergic reaction to Phoslo 667mg is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. DO NOT SHARE PHOSLO 667mg with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE PHOSLO 667mg for other health conditions. IF USING PHOSLO 667mg FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.
