American artist Koo Schadler is highly skilled at painting with egg tempera, a paint made from powdered pigments, egg yolks, and water. Egg tempera was widely used before the sixteenth century, when oil paint was invented.
Ms. Schadler used egg tempera to create this beautiful portrait of a Crme d'Argent rabbit - a rare and special breed with a calm, friendly disposition and very unusual fur. These rabbits have dense, fluffy cream-colored fur with an orange undercoat.
