Many of the comments indicate that this product doesn't absorb well etc., which leads me to wonder if the purchasers have used the product correctly; admittedly the instructions are a bit unclear.

This wonderful exfoliant should never be left on the skin, and is not intended to be used as a moisturizer. Rather, it is intended to be used as a manual exfoliator, meaning you apply it to dry skin, say your hands, and rub and rub till slowly the palmitic acid (active ingredient) begins to slough off the dead skin. I think the paraffin is what keeps the product from absorbing, so that you can keep rolling the dead skin off.

After you are done with this manual exfoliation, you must wash the area thoroughly with a detergent of some sort to remove the waxy residue. When I use this on my hands, I do so at the kitchen sink so the dead skin can easily be rinsed away, and I follow up with two hand washings with dishwashing liquid. Even then I sometimes still have some paraffin remaining around my fingernails. Using a manicure brush with the dishsoap, which totally removes it. I also end up with a minor waxy film in my sink, so that needs addressed with dishsoap and a scrubby sponge also.

When I am doing my own pedicure, I sit on the countertop, put my feet in the kitchen sink (I have a very large stainless steel sink) and do the same routine. I often add more product as the initial application begins to dry, and continue rubbing away at my skin, and it keeps on sloughing away dead skin. Often I follow up with a sea salt (oil-based) scrub, and then rinse that off, before ending with the detergent-based cleaning to remove all the residue.

Yes, it is a bit of extra work, but the results are worth it. I would not be able to live without Pretty Feet & Hands! I've used it my entire life, and it is worth the extra effort for the wonderful results that only this product can deliver.

This doesn't work as well as it used to back when it was in the blue bottle. The stuff in the blue bottle was very good at gently exfoliating my feet, this stuff does nothing. Like a previous reviewer, I suspect that they changed the formula.

The product was very watery and had few exfoliating beads in it. I first tried to use it in the living room and it was a mess. So I thought the shower, but that equally didn't work. I thought it would be a scrub. It's just very thin liquid that just goes everywhere. Ended up throwing the whole, brand new bottle away. Not worth it.

I used this product for many years. However, it doesn't seem to be doing the job of getting rid of rough skin anymore. I even wrote to the company asking if they changed the formula. They said they didn't. It still doesn't do the job.

Comments about Pretty Feet & Hands Rough Skin Remover, 3 fl oz:

I bought this expecting, based on the rave reviews, to get some kind of age-old magic cream only grandmothers know about, given the amount of people who say they've/their parents have used it for years with great results. What I got was complete junk. It did absolutely nothing; the white stuff that balls up and falls off is the product itself. I suppose that the powder in the formula (MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE) could act as a mild exfoliant, but this is far from a scrub. It also has NO ingredients except for thickeners, cleansing agents, emollients, preservatives, and a pH balancer. It has NO ingredients that exfoliate the skin on a chemical level (e.g. AHA's/BHA's), so any negligible exfoliation is due to the process of using the product rather than the product itself. That is, it's the scrubbing and rubbing that is exfoliating your feet.

This is a product that my mother told me about. We have used it and enjoyed it for years. I pull out an old newspaper to work over to contain the inevitable mess. Highly recommend this product.

I keep this product in my laundry room as well as my bath. When I feel my hands dry, or rough, I just use a small amount and I see and feel immediate results. Great for rough cuticles. It is the most effective product I have every used. It's simple, easy, and very effective. My hands really take a beating all year from all my outside activities, this product is the only remedy.

I've used a product with the same name for many years, and find the current product quite ineffective. I've concluded it's a different product being sold under the old label. Current product seems to superficially smooth hands or feet, but does not actually exfoliate and smooth calloused hands and feet like the previous formula.

I won't purchase it again unless I see it advertised as "old formula" Pretty Feet.
