When Prilosec first went OTC, it meant I was actually paying *more* for the medication than with insurance, so naturally I tended to go for the generic when available. Unfortunately, neither the brand-name nor the generic was in user-friendly packaging - it was impossible to get the pills out of the blister-pack without either gouging my fingers, or resorting to scissors. VS Most Liked Negative Review Had a severe reaction to this product. I took this product and all went well the first two days. This was the first time I'd tried it. The third evening within half an hour of taking it or less I began having a severe reaction to it. There wasn't a place on my body from my toes to the top of my head that did not itch severly and feel in pain it was so bad. Of course it was a time release 24 hour tablet and it took about 30 hours for the effects to finally wear off. Just thought I should warn it's possible some people can't take this. I really wanted to as I was so pleased it seemed to be working the first 2 days. This is only the second time I've ever had this particular reaction to a drug and first for an over the counter one. Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I wouldn't start this unless dx with GERD because it's a lifelong decision. I thought it was just me who was unable to get off this stuff until I read similar comments online. So, if you want to take this so you can eat foods that normally cause you heatburn...don't! Stick with tums. As for this product vs others on the market, it works best for me. I've tried generic and I had problems with my throat within a few days, so went back to Prilosec. Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: Great product that works if you have acid reflux! You have to take it for a few days before it starts working but once it does you won't ever want to go back to antacid tablets that you have to take all day long! Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: So long as you use this product daily, it relieves all heartburn/acid reflux symptoms. My husband swears that the store-brands of this product do not work as well. It is worth paying a little extra to be sure you have relief! Within a few days of not taking the product, symptoms were back. Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: This product can be used daily as recommended by your doctor. Prilosec works so well that I only take it if I know I am going to eat something that causes me acid indigestion or if I notice indigestion in the evening. One tablet is all that is needed for an entire 24 hrs! Pros
