When Prilosec first went OTC, it meant I was actually paying *more* for the medication than with insurance, so naturally I tended to go for the generic when available. Unfortunately, neither the brand-name nor the generic was in user-friendly packaging - it was impossible to get the pills out of the blister-pack without either gouging my fingers, or resorting to scissors. VS Most Liked Negative Review Had a severe reaction to this product. I took this product and all went well the first two days. This was the first time I'd tried it. The third evening within half an hour of taking it or less I began having a severe reaction to it. There wasn't a place on my body from my toes to the top of my head that did not itch severly and feel in pain it was so bad. Of course it was a time release 24 hour tablet and it took about 30 hours for the effects to finally wear off. Just thought I should warn it's possible some people can't take this. I really wanted to as I was so pleased it seemed to be working the first 2 days. This is only the second time I've ever had this particular reaction to a drug and first for an over the counter one. Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I originally was prescribed "Prilosec" many years ago. All of a sudden this medication was put OTC. My doctor immediately recommended "Nexium"...(kickback). It had reached the point that I couldn't afford "Nexium" anymore so I returned back to "Prilosec". It works just as good as the prescribed medicine. Always watch what your doctor prescribes because they don't care really about your health, they just want to get richer. Believe me, I learned the hard way...I almost died. Pros
