When Prilosec first went OTC, it meant I was actually paying *more* for the medication than with insurance, so naturally I tended to go for the generic when available. Unfortunately, neither the brand-name nor the generic was in user-friendly packaging - it was impossible to get the pills out of the blister-pack without either gouging my fingers, or resorting to scissors. VS Most Liked Negative Review Had a severe reaction to this product. I took this product and all went well the first two days. This was the first time I'd tried it. The third evening within half an hour of taking it or less I began having a severe reaction to it. There wasn't a place on my body from my toes to the top of my head that did not itch severly and feel in pain it was so bad. Of course it was a time release 24 hour tablet and it took about 30 hours for the effects to finally wear off. Just thought I should warn it's possible some people can't take this. I really wanted to as I was so pleased it seemed to be working the first 2 days. This is only the second time I've ever had this particular reaction to a drug and first for an over the counter one. Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I have GIRD, and must take a pill of this type. When I had insurance, I used a prescription drug. Now that I am retired, I am buying this drug - which is cheaper. It works just as well as the more expensive one. Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: For years I had tried a number of both over-the-counter and perscription medicines to remedy my problem with consistent and painful heartburn. I was just about to give up when my husband recommended I just "try" Prilosec OTC. He had seen in a commercial that it is supposed to be quite effective. I was skeptical, but I did as he suggested and within a matter of days, my heartburn had completely disappeared! Since that time, I am a regular user of this product. I have not had trouble with heartburn since that time. Although my doctor says side effects are possible, I have not yet experienced any since I started taking Prilosec on a regular bases (over 5 years now). Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: My drug insurance plan would not approve Nexium anymore and so a neighbor told me that she was taking Prilosec OTC as an alternative to Nexium. I was having a terrible time with my stomach, so I started on the Prilosec OTC about a year ago and have had no problems at all! I take one in the morning and I'm good all day long. I should mention that I like spicy foods and my stomach never acts up with Prilosec OTC. Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I had my entire colon removed and reconstructive surgery with the small intestine. As a result, the food has a much shorter distance to travel and the acid from my stomach reaches my behind FAST. By taking Prilosec everyday, I don't experience the "butt burn" that most who have had this surgery experience. There is less acid therefore less travels to the end of the line. I know the Prilosec is responsible because I forgot to take it one day and literally paid the price. Displaying reviews 111-120 |
